Plaid

There is something casually alluring about plaid.  Although tartan patterns may initially come off as prudish, this print has made a very edgy comeback.  Pairing plaid with different patterns gives this schoolgirl look more bite!
Runway: Clements Ribeiro (above) & Celine (below) both paired plaids with contrasting patterns

Street Style: grungy plaid vs. feminine plaid

Military Inspired

This trend never seems to go out of style. I love the rugged, yet chic impression that military inspired clothing gives.  Deep neutral colors are my favorite, so there is no question that this is one of my go-to looks.
Runway: St. John (above) & Prabal Gurung (below)

Street Style: rugged vs. feminine

Fur

There are few who find a classic piece like this distasteful.  Fur had a major presence on the runways this fall.  Several collections, including those by Sacai, Peter Som, and Band of Outsiders incorporated fur into their traditional looks.

Runway: Peter Som (above) & Sacai (below).  I love the regal touch that fur adds to a timeless piece.

Street Style: An instant richness and texture is added with fur

Graphic Sweatshirts

The current fascination with sweatshirts has been prompted by Givenchy's Fall 2013 collection.  Rugged, oversized sweaters were paired with romantic skirts and dresses; and as boyish as the sweaters seem, this collection put an accent on feminine.
Runway: The show emphasized floral, peplum, and sheer skirts.

Street Style: an achievable spin on Givenchy's noteworthy Bambi sweatshirt

More From NYFW

Sunday, September 22, 2013

Hey guys! I wanted to finish posting my photos from New York Fashion Week.  During Fashion Week I literally wore an all black uniformed look everyday, so you will not be seeing any of my personal style.  This was the perfect opportunity for me muster up some style ideas for Spring, which will be here sooner than we know it.  Take a look and tell me what you think about these looks from Joie Clothing, Rolando Santana, and Voz.

I caught the end of the Joie Clothing presentation, but I wish I could have taken photos of every look.

As the Assistant Stylist, I was very pleased with the story that was told through the Rolando Santana Fashion Show.  This collection featured many pastels and feminine
floral prints. Check out the models' hair and makeup!

Which collection inspires you the most?

I also met Olivia Lopez from LustForLife while riding the subway and Claire Sulmers from FashionBombDaily at a blogging event.  Post coming soon!

Behind The Scenes with Nikki Poulos NYFW

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

What a blessing to be assisting NBC Fashion Star, Nikki Poulos, during New York Fashion Week.  Stylist, Ariella Faith devised the creative direction for the Spring '14 collection.  Poulos's ready-to-wear line is vintage inspired and filled with bold, colorful prints. Check out the behind the scene photos below and comment with your favorite looks!

She was gorgeous!

Hybrid Style

Friday, June 21, 2013

I am in LOVE with this sandal/ankle-boot hybrid shoe from the ASOS collection.  While surfing the web this week I stumbled upon these killer shoes on WhoWhatWear. At that moment I knew that I had to have these boots, but they were out of stock!  I've been checking up on the ASOS Attack Leather Cut Out Gladiator Ankle Boots ever since, and today I was blessed to find that ASOS restocked the item.  When I came across this boot (they only restocked them in my size by the way) I immediately made the purchase.  See what this rant is all about and check out my new kicks!

I absolutely love how Kat Collings from WhoWhatWear pairs this sandal/boot with all white.  Perfect for the summer and completely on trend! I cannot wait to wear mine! Be on the look out for another restock HERE.

Angela by Angela Simmons

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Angela Simmons has always been a stylish young woman.  Some of you may have been fans of her footwear line, Pastry.  Finally, the time has come, and Angela is launching her own clothing line! Angela by Angela Simmons is preparing it's Spring/Summer '13 line, and she has revealed some pieces to her fans in a short video posted on Global Grind.  These dark colors shy away from her usually vibrant and colorful style sense.  I am so excited to see more from Angela by Angela Simmons!
