My Favorite Eyeshadow Palettes

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Eyeshadow palettes are such a convenient item to have in your makeup collection.  I've chosen my top three favorite palettes based on color intensity and versatility.

1. NAKED Palette by Urban Decay ($50)

Urban decay never disappoints in the eyeshadow category.  This deep, neutral palette is great for both the perfect smoky eye and a natural, everyday look.

2. LORAC Mint Edition Palette ($36)

The pastel colors in this mint edition palette are just in time for the Spring season. The palette includes a blush and a highlight color, which will always define a cool-eyed look.

3. Resort Palette by Sigma Beauty ($42)

The limited edition Resort palette emulates warm, tropical hues for a more vibrant look.  For sexy, evening eye makeup, I would suggest this unique palette which also includes a blush and a liquid highlighter.

Angela by Angela Simmons

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Angela Simmons has always been a stylish young woman.  Some of you may have been fans of her footwear line, Pastry.  Finally, the time has come, and Angela is launching her own clothing line! Angela by Angela Simmons is preparing it's Spring/Summer '13 line, and she has revealed some pieces to her fans in a short video posted on Global Grind.  These dark colors shy away from her usually vibrant and colorful style sense.  I am so excited to see more from Angela by Angela Simmons!

White Winter

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I decided to throw on my vintage white faux fur scarf tonight.  I paired it with some white trousers and a black bodysuit from Forever21.  To add a pop of color, I sported these oxblood heels by Vince Camuto that were only $35! What a steal! The dark cranberry color on my lips is called "Media" by MAC.

Who says you can't pull off white in the winter? Keep it simple, add a bold pump, and accessorize for a stylish yet simple look.  I bought these gold stacked rings from asos.com and I love them! My necklace is a part of Rachel Roy's collection.

The Truth About Skincare

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

When I wake up in the morning and take a look in the mirror, my skin is my initial concern.  As superficial as it may seem, appearance says a lot about a person.  Having healthy and well-treated skin will heighten your spirits on your most lackluster days.  Every woman can have beautiful skin, but this all depends on how well we take care of it.  Just start with these three simple tips that apply to all skin-types.

1.     Always Remove Your Makeup.  Before you go to bed, be sure that your face is makeup free.  Sleeping with makeup on can clog your pores overnight, but removing your makeup allows your pores to breathe.  In turn, you are avoiding that hassle of cleaning existent residue from your face the next morning.  But, more importantly, you are preparing the way for your consistently healthy skin!  For quick and easy makeup removal, I love to use Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.  They are fast and leave no mess.

2.     Keep Your Face Clean.  It caught me by surprise that so many women do not wash their faces daily, primarily because it is time consuming.  Taking care of your skin is essential, and these 30 seconds of your time will make a difference for a lifetime!  It’s best to look for a cleanser that will address your skin’s specific issues, i.e., acne, dry skin, and oily skin.  When cleansing my face, I prefer to use Aubrey Organics Products.  These all-natural products are perfect for all skin types and leave your skin feeling better than ever.

3.    Always  Moisturize.  To pack in extra hydration, I always moisturize my skin.  This is very beneficial because hydration prevents further damage to the skin.  It is especially important to moisturize your skin before applying makeup and during extremely dry seasons.  Some makeup products contain chemicals that dry out your skin, and hydration plays a large roll in sealing in necessary moisture.  Dry seasons, such as winter, may cause the condition of your skin to fluctuate.  These are the times when moisturizers are you best friend, so don’t be afraid to apply a generous amount.

Whether you are on the go or in the comfort of your own home, you should always be sure to take great care of your skin and maintain a healthy skincare regimen.

Put A Twist On Your Winged-Eye

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Amy Winehouse branded the winged-eye as her signature look years ago.  Fortunately, there are several variations that I adore.  Try to spice up your look with a sultry twist to your winged eye.  Reverse the traditional look by swiping a dark liner under your waterline.  Define the winged edges with a gel or liquid liner.

For a pop of color, use your favorite liner on both the top and bottom lash lines. Swipe the same liner onto the inner corners of the eye.  Christian Dior executed this look at New York Fashion Week.

Rihanna Collaborates with MAC

Friday, March 8, 2013

First, her clothing line with retailer, River Island.... Now, Rihanna is joining forces with MAC Cosmetics!

I am awaiting the reveal of Rih's new MAC products on May 4th. Her signature product, "RiRi Woo," inspired by MAC's infamous red lipstick "Ruby Woo," will certainly be a best seller.  Rihanna consistently sports a red lip, and we will finally be able to wear this celebrities own creation.  At the young age of 25, Rihanna is making her mark in many areas of the beauty and fashion realm.
