Case of the Mondays

Hey Guys! Here's a quick post of what I wore this weekend.  The dress is a vintage AJ Bari piece, the coat is from H&M, and I bought these thigh high boots on Ebay.

Time to bring out the faux fur ladies! How cute is this ombre faux fur vest? I usually don't wear fur, however this one was extremely comfortable and easy to throw on. Pairing this vest with a long sleeve top underneath would be ideal, but I didn't have one on hand. With that said, I still think I would wear the vest this way again, even though I was cold. I promise I'm not photoshopped in the third image. Enjoy!

Once again, some late night shenanigans turned into a photo op. This vintage Hermes necklace is subtle, yet it gives me a huge boost of confidence. How can you go wrong when constructing your outfit with black as your palette?  It works every time, and it is very hard to ruin a black ensemble.  I can see this look with a darker lipstick.  What do you think?

Wedding Bells

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Hey guys! I went to a wedding last night, and I wanted to share some photos.  The four man wolf pack looked absolutely stunning. My vintage AJ Bari dress was thrifted for only $18!  I am a sucker for sequin, so when I saw this dress I had to have it.  Check it out!

I enjoy the many ways you can style a simple jersey.  You can portray the downright tomboy with a pair of sneakers or throw a feminine spin on things with a pair of heels.  Either way this look is comfortable and easy to attain. Happy Hump Day!

Palette Trends (Fall Edition)

Plaid

There is something casually alluring about plaid.  Although tartan patterns may initially come off as prudish, this print has made a very edgy comeback.  Pairing plaid with different patterns gives this schoolgirl look more bite!
Runway: Clements Ribeiro (above) & Celine (below) both paired plaids with contrasting patterns

Street Style: grungy plaid vs. feminine plaid

Military Inspired

This trend never seems to go out of style. I love the rugged, yet chic impression that military inspired clothing gives.  Deep neutral colors are my favorite, so there is no question that this is one of my go-to looks.
Runway: St. John (above) & Prabal Gurung (below)

Street Style: rugged vs. feminine

Fur

There are few who find a classic piece like this distasteful.  Fur had a major presence on the runways this fall.  Several collections, including those by Sacai, Peter Som, and Band of Outsiders incorporated fur into their traditional looks.

Runway: Peter Som (above) & Sacai (below).  I love the regal touch that fur adds to a timeless piece.

Street Style: An instant richness and texture is added with fur

Graphic Sweatshirts

The current fascination with sweatshirts has been prompted by Givenchy's Fall 2013 collection.  Rugged, oversized sweaters were paired with romantic skirts and dresses; and as boyish as the sweaters seem, this collection put an accent on feminine.
Runway: The show emphasized floral, peplum, and sheer skirts.

Street Style: an achievable spin on Givenchy's noteworthy Bambi sweatshirt

Open Autumn

My ASOS Cut Out Gladiator Boots came in handy today; the perfect shoe for this finicky weather.  Since it is technically fall, I decided to throw on a cropped sweater from Zara. The 80+ degree heat put me in the mood for some comfy distressed denim shorts.  I completed the look with a vintage top handle bag that I bought in Italy, and some gold accessories I found lying around my grandmothers' closet. Happy Friday!

Fun With Claire Sulmers

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

While in New York, I attended a bloggers event where The Fashion Bomb Daily's, Claire Sulmers was speaking.  She loved my outfit and featured me on her Instagram account.  If you all have never visited this distinguished fashion blog, I highly recommend you give it a look.  Unfortunately this is the only photo I have of this particular look, but I was just so thrilled to be noticed by Claire in a room full of wonderful women.  Check out the Fashion Bomb Daily blog today!
